Tui-Na Massage

Traditional Chinese Massage (Tui Na) involves acupressure, which is the stimulation of acupuncture points without the use of needles. It also involves a variety of massage techniques to relax muscles and stimulate blood flow, and spinal manipulation techniques that work in a similar way to chiropractic treatment.

According to the requirement of the disease and preference of the patient, massage can be administered in different ways. Acupressure is useful, for example, on children or people who are afraid of acupuncture needles.

A general massage is excellent as an aid to relaxing and coping with stress, and spinal manipulations combined with massage may be necessary for people with back or neck problems.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is the most common and best-known type of massage in the West. It involves working the soft tissue of the body to ease stress and muscular tension. It increases the blood circulation and lymph flow, and promotes mental and physical relaxation.

One of the main benefits of Swedish massage is to promote overall relaxation. Massage can stimulate the sensory nerves to work on the brain to release endorphins or the ‘feel good’ chemicals. Swedish massage is also very effective in relaxing the muscles, reducing muscle tension and spasm, relieving muscular pain and stiffness of joints. It increases the blood circulation and lymphatic circulation, helps to eliminate the toxins and waste products from the body. Swedish massage also benefits the skin due to the increasing circulation of blood to the superficial capillaries. The oil used during the massage also moisturizes and nourishes the skin.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils extracted from plants for medicinal purposes. It is a natural holistic therapy, which combines the healing power of massage with the therapeutic properties of essential oils. Essential oils can be easily absorbed by the skin, and the essences are also inhaled during the treatment to work on the mind and body. Aromatherapy can help ease sore muscles, dispel tension and restore well-being. It also helps to alleviate the effects of stress.

As a holistic therapy, Aromatherapy Massage (ARM) is designed to treat your overall needs, not just one symptom. The therapist will first take a full medical history and details of your lifestyle to ensure you get the right treatment. Then a blend of 2 – 3 essential oils will be prepared to suit your individual needs. The therapist will usually test the oils on your skin first to check for allergies or sensitivities.

Full body massage is carried out using gentle massaging techniques to apply the oils. It is also possible to massage part of the body, for example, back and shoulders, depending on the individual’s needs.
